The Story of SP Supplies
A business based on quality, value and service
SP Supplies has been servicing small to medium businesses in Melbourne for many years.
Initially involved primarily in the hospitality industry with carbonless docket books, the business has expanded over the past few years into embroidered clothing and uniforms.
The proprietors, Sheryl and Paul, have extensive experience in the small to medium business and service sectors and have always prided themselves on providing quality, value and service.
On Quality
Providing quality can be difficult at times as the definition of quality can vary dramatically. In our case it means products that do the job they were designed for well, without problems and meet the expectations of the user.
With embroidery and other forms of branding, it involves the care taken in matching logo colours and ensuring good branding isn't placed on inferior garments, just to meet a price point.
For example, we could, but don't, put our top quality embroidery on cheap tee-shirts as the embroidery will well outlast the shirt. We can, if the situation requires it, produce very inexpensive branded t-shirts for promotional purposes. However, we certainly wouldn't use these in tough conditions where the garment would be worn and washed on a daily basis and only a top quality item would last the distance.
Quality is all about matching the product to the task it is expected to perform and ensuring it does perform to expectations.
On Value
Again, value can mean many things. For us it's about providing products that do the job expected of them well, at reasonable cost.
Using our docket book range as an example, they aren't the cheapest available but they certainly aren't the most expensive.
The carbonless paper is good quality, the printing isn't blurred, the sets tear off well right down to the last in the pad. They do the job expected of them without problems, at a good price. That's value.
The same principle applies to our embroidery, clothing and uniforms.
On Service
Service is now almost a forgotten word. It just isn't available in so many situations and we most certainly know when we don't receive it and appreciate it when we do!
And, one thing that is certain, so do our customers.
From our perspective, it is something that goes with the territory. SP Supplies has always been about building relationships with its customers and about ensuring that if there's something we can reasonably do, we will do it.
Simple things like providing all the information necessary for a prospective customer to make an informed decision. Like delivering on time. Like being available outside of normal office hours.
Service is taking the time to sort through the needs and any special requirements of the customer and ensuring the solutions offered meet those needs. It's simple really.
Providing service is the main reason we offer a mobile service. Running any sort of business or service is time intensive and by us visiting our clients and prospective customers where they are, we can save them time, which can add greatly to the concept of value.
If in an emergency we can deliver docket books on the weekend, we do. If we can reorganise our embroidery machine workloads to get a rush job through without affecting other deadlines, we do.
Service is being prepared to do what you can to help, and we do.
